Cited — Privacy Policy

Cited is an AI-visibility tool for online stores. It checks how AI assistants describe and recommend your store, and helps you improve that. This policy explains what data Cited collects when you install it on your Wix site, what we do with it, and how to reach us.

What we collect

When you install Cited, we collect the minimum needed to run visibility scans for your store:

• Your site and business name, site domain, locale, and country, as provided by Wix's Site Properties and App Instance APIs.
• Product titles, product types, and store categories from your store catalog (a small sample, used to understand what you sell).
• Competitor names that you enter yourself.
• The results of the scans we run for you (scores, AI answers, recommendations).
• Your app instance ID and plan, so we know which site the data belongs to and which features are enabled.

We do not access your customers' personal data. We never read customer accounts, orders, payment details, or shopper behaviour.

What we send to AI providers

To measure your visibility, Cited sends buyer-style prompts (for example, "what's a good store for handmade candles in the UK?") to third-party AI providers. These prompts may include your store or brand name, your product category, and competitor names you entered. They never include any shopper personal data, because we never collect it in the first place.

Where data is stored

Data is stored in a Postgres database hosted on Fly.io and Neon, in EU and US data centres.

Retention

If you uninstall Cited, all data associated with your site is deleted within 30 days. You can also request deletion at any time by emailing us.

Your rights and contact

You can ask us what data we hold about your site, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact: brianhtchd@gmail.com.

This policy applies to the Cited app for Wix, operated by its developer. If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above.
